The Cavendish Youth Group runs every Tuesday night from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm during the school year. The Trent Lakes Public Library and the Cavendish Community Centre collaborate to provide this program. It is open to all youth in the Municipality of Trent Lakes. Once in high school, local youth can acquire community service hours by assisting with the program. Attendance is between 7 and 20 children each week. An important aspect of the Cavendish Youth Group is that it is free of charge.
Each week those who attend the program in Cavendish have free access to the playground, skating rink, baseball diamond and upper level of the Community Centre. Craft time is run for those who wish to participate. The library is also open for the children and offers access to computers for schoolwork.
Parents have the option to either stay at the Community Centre or leave. Because we are a remote community, this provides parents with an excellent opportunity to interact with their neighbours.
